Main issues of Capacity Building for the year 2008—2009

After studying the Regional Perspective Plan (RPP), Diocesan Perspective plans (DPP) and with the visit to the Dioceses and subsequent discussions with the Diocesan Directors, it was realized that Diocesan program interventions should have a paradigm shift from need based approach to rights based approach. Therefore it was decided that we take up Rights Based Approach RBA and integrate in our developmental programs this year. We also decided to pinpoint the main areas of the capacity building programs are Right to food, Right to Forest and Gender mainstreaming (Human Trafficking). 

Hence, we had a Capacity Building Program on Concept of RBA and Rights to Food and Forest, and gender mainstreaming in July 2008 in Nagpur. Now we have planned to promote it to the grass root level for the benefit of the main target group of our development programs by organizing the Zonal level programs during the months of January and February 2009.

Farmer’s suicide is another issue addressed by the WRSSF in Vidharba with our diocesan partners; we have planned Watershed management and IGP to prevent Farmers to take their lives. It is facilitated by the Forum and actually implemented by three dioceses of Amravati, Chanda and Nagpur.

The Forum also is partnering with Caritas India for Maharashtra Integrated Development for Action (MIDAS) which focuses a concept of structure building at grass root level functioning in the diocese. Under this program the forum plays a role for enhancing the capacities of the functionaries of the structure formed.
